I was in New Orleans and we were walking down the street and saw this on a wall. At first glance it seems like a lame inspiring message. Then I thought about it some more.

Life isn’t a story … I’m living it.

The story is the interpretation of of my life.

I can make it great if I pay more attention to the people, ideas, and work all around me.

So here’s to a lame inspiring message for actually inspiring me!

Here, here!

Ugh. Spam is the worst and interesting at the same time! Here is a small recent sampling of some spam that my website has received:

“At this time I am ready to do my breakfast, once having my breakfast coming yet again to read additional news Birthday Parties | Aaron Mace .”

“Hello to all, its really a fastidious for me to pay a quick visit this site Birthday Parties | Aaron Mace , it contains valuable Information.”

“Obviously high resolution videotape quality includes much memory, that Birthday Parties | Aaron Mace why it gives better feature.”

It is almost like they don’t speak English and are using a web translator! Oh wait. They probably are….

Mystery Guest

This morning I heard Olaf making a ton of noise out in her coop. I went out to investigate and found this little critter in there with her.IMG_8582

It was in the run with Olaf while she was flapping around and making a ton of noise. That noise is why I went outside to investigate.

I couldn’t get it to come out! It was cowering in the corner under the stairs. I opened the outer door and let the chickens come out which made them a lot happier. I tried banging on the wall behind him, moving far from the entrance, gentle pokes with a stick, nothing would get it to come out. It didn’t even want to play dead.

I did a bunch of research though and learned a lot about opossum. They are nocturnal omnivores. Apparently they don’t really try to attack chickens that often, they just really like their food. They have one of the bet memories for where to find food, better than dogs. They have a ton of teeth, 50! Most people only have 32 teeth. When they play dead it is an unconscious response. They roll over, get stiff, bear their teeth, and let out some bad smells. I’m glad it didn’t do this!

I had to leave for work this morning with it still in there. I hope he goes somewhere else by the time I get home! I will have to fix the hole it dug and figure out a way to dissuade it from coming back!IMG_8579.JPG

Anna the Chicken

My chickens love cat food. It is their most favorite thing in the whole world. Anytime I open the garage door they come sprinting from wherever they are. They definitely know they aren’t supposed to be in there and will knock over the water bowl every single time in their frantic panic in trying to get out when I try to shoo them away.

Tenacity: the quality or fact of being able to grip something firmly; grip.

Tree in Bloom

Tree Out of Bloom

Every time I am waiting for the train I notice this tree growing out of the wall. It is 20 feet up in the air. I bet it makes hanging out on that fire escape very nice in the summer. That or it makes it very scratchy.

I wonder if its roots are growing into someones living room…

Humans are Backwards

Slow motion video is pretty cool. You can learn all sorts of things from it. I vividly remember as a kid not understanding why when I licked water, I would hardly get any in my mouth. I thought that dogs must not really need as much water as I thought they would. Slow motion has proven me wrong.

On the other end is time lapse.  Seeing things that take too long to observe normally is amazing. I could fill the page with time lapse and slow motion videos.

It makes one think that time is more relative than it would seem. As I write this I am reminded of an article that I read somewhere that says that time is perceived differently for different creatures. It is all in our brains… zombies understand.
